Reactiv Rehab is doing something unique in the musculoskeletal space for a variety of reasons: they're combining augmented reality (AR) and gamification to improve patient outcomes, focusing on the benefits provided by a critical (and often overlooked) member of the rehabilitation sciences: Occupational Therapy. This makes sense as sedentary lifestyle is a huge contributor to joint pain and overall physical performance decline, and the reduced hardware challenges surrounding AR as compared to virtual reality. It's still the early stages, but there are early signs of success: the team is led by a co-founder from world-renowned Cambridge University, they've graduated from a prominent startup accelerator (TechStars), and, importantly, they've made the early decision to include clinicians in leadership positions to help drive product development and patient outcomes.
