Job Summary Performs routine and emergency analytical test procedures on all specimens submitted to the Blood Bank. Prepares reagents for analytical tests according to designated procedures. Roles & Responsibilities: Performs, observes, interprets, and records a variety of immuno-hematological tests and procedures on both donor and recipient blood samples Prepares and dispenses blood and components for transfusion Updates and maintains computerized records of all transactions, answers queries, and communicates with clinicians Assures adequate updated inventories of blood components and supplies Reviews the work of Technicians when a Supervisor is not present Performs ABO grouping, Rh typing, antibody detection, and compatibility tests on donor and recipient blood samples Performs and interprets results of pre-transfusion tests accurately and consistently, determining serological compatibility between donor and recipient to prevent potentially harmful or fatal transfusion reactions Performs and interprets antibody identification studies of patients with positive antibody detection tests or a history ...
