Description As an integral part of a team, the Critical Care Paramedic is responsible for patient care and support activities surrounding the coordination and performance of patient transfers/transports/emergency responses. Incumbent is cognizant of and adheres to the philosophy, standards, objectives and policies of the Department and the Hospital System. Responsibilities 1. Within scope of training and certification, and within all variations of team composition, the Critical Care Paramedic will provide comprehensive, effective and safe patient care during all patient encounters, including ICU-level care throughout inter-facility transport of all patient populations. 2. As a component of clinical care, attains and maintains expert proficiency in the use of all current and future biomedical devices that are applicable to patient transfer / transport. Examples include, but are not limited to: mechanical ventilators, high-frequency ventilators, infusion pumps, intra-aortic balloon pump, video laryngoscopy device, circulatory assist devices, pacemaker, infant transport isolette, nitric-oxide delivery system, body temperature control device, EKG monitor / defibrillator, invasive monitor, ...
