Description Mechanic A-Mount Sinai Hospital Under supervision, installs and maintains equipment in accordance with standard trade practice and safety regulations. Responsibilities Performs routine inspection of plant and equipment, noting faults on inspection forms, and plans repairs accordingly. Repairs, adjusts and rebuilds electrical systems, elevators, laundry equipment, mechanical equipment, refrigerators, air conditioners, air handling equipment, and refrigeration, gas, water, air oxygen, steam, vacuum and/or waste systems. Keeps auxiliary and emergency equipment in ready repair. Observes and practices all safety requirements in the conduct of any work. Keeps pertinent records and logs on repairs, maintenance, overhauls and upkeep. May direct workers in lower classified work such as helpers, and give-on-the-job training to helpers and assistants. May assist in any other maintenance or engineering fields as required. Responsible for care and maintenance of equipment and tools used as well as order and cleanliness of shop and work area.
