Description Education Specialist-Cochlear Implant Hearing-New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai-Full Time, Days The Education Specialist is a State Certified in Early Childhood Development and Deaf Education that provides family counseling for parents of children diagnosed with hearing loss or deafness. The Education Specialist coordinates services offered by the Department of Education and clinical modalities provided by the clinical care team at the Ear Institute Responsibilities Interprets diagnostic evaluations in the assessment of auditory acuity, functional listening skills, speech perception and production, receptive and expressive language, and academic achievement for the purposes of formulating educational recommendations pertaining to placement and related services Collaborates with school personnel regarding patients' hearing and educational needs by the following: ensuring HIPAA compliance, identifying providers, sharing records, participating in meetings, advocating for services, visiting school programs, classroom observation, sharing strategies for working with children with hearing loss, and ensuring that mandated services are provided for children with hearing aids, cochlear and bone ...
