Description The Nurse Clinician is a registered professional nurse who demonstrates expert clinical expertise through advanced knowledge and skills in an area of clinical nursing specialization. The nurse clinician is able to guide and promote the growth and development of nursing practice through application of advanced nursing knowledge/skills with patients and families, nurses and other health care providers. Responsibilities Provides direct patient care within an area of clinical specialization. Provides education to patients, families and/or caregivers using individualized teaching and counseling skills. Participates in the assessment, implementation and ongoing evaluation of clinical services for a designated patient population. Practice includes, but is not limited to: Patient screening Patient/Family education D/C planning and follow-up Case management Research Maintains clinical expertise in area of specialization Serves as a resource for patient and/or families/caregivers.
