Description Performs Cytologic evaluation of specimen in accordance with departmental testing procedures and policies Responsibilities Prepares diagnostic reports Functions as Quality Assurance Coordinator in the absence of the Assistant Cytologist and Chief of Service by seniority Assumes duties of the Assistant Cytologist in the absence of the Assistant Cytologist by seniority Performs microscopic evaluation of cytologic specimens according to laboratory procedures and workload policies Prepares a final diagnosis and signs and dates the final report on negative gynecologic specimens Prepares provisional diagnosis, signs and dates worksheets on all other cases, and refers these for review Prepares smears of radiologically guided FNA for the Pathologist to evaluate Maintains accession book diagnoses and files for negative gynecologic specimens Maintains absolute integrity in the accurate performance and reporting of results Observes professional discretion with patient information Completes work consistently within acceptable time limits Assumes specimen preparation duties as required Follows all established policies as outlined in the divisions procedure manual Maintains accurate ...
